App Store Fee & Net Profit Calculator for Micro-SaaS Apps

See what Apple, Google Play, Stripe and a merchant of record leave in your pocket every month.

  • 2026 store fees
  • Editable rates
  • Private by design

Selling a micro-SaaS or app subscription through Apple or Google means the store takes a cut before you see a cent, and the cut depends on your program, your region and how long each customer has stayed. This free app store fee calculator turns that into one number you can act on: your net profit per month. Enter your price, your customers and your costs, and it compares four ways of getting paid side by side: Apple App Store, Google Play, your own checkout with Stripe, and a merchant of record such as Paddle or Lemon Squeezy. It also shows the price you would need to charge to keep a target amount on every sale. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.

How the app store fee calculator works

For each way of getting paid, the calculator uses the same four steps:

  1. Fee on each sale = price × fee percentage + fixed fee per sale.
  2. You keep per sale = price − fee on each sale.
  3. Profit per month = you keep per sale × customers − fixed costs − (cost to serve one customer × customers).
  4. Price needed = (target take-home + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − fee percentage).

The yearly figure is the monthly profit multiplied by twelve. It assumes the same number of customers every month, so treat it as a planning number, not a forecast.

Worked example

Take the starting values in the calculator: a $9.99 monthly price, 200 paying customers, $150 of fixed costs and $1.20 a month to serve each customer, so $390 of costs in total. Through Apple or Google Play at 15%, you keep $8.49 per sale (about $8.4915 before rounding), which is $1,698.30 a month and $1,308.30 after costs. With your own Stripe checkout at 2.9% + $0.30, you keep about $9.40 per sale, $1,880.06 a month and $1,490.06 after costs, which is $181.76 a month more than the store route. A merchant of record at 5% + $0.50 leaves $8.99 per sale and $1,408.10 after costs. These figures show how the maths works with the example inputs. They are not a forecast for your product.

What the stores and processors charge in 2026

The fee settings below were checked on 28 October 2026 against the stores’ own announcements and published pricing, and several 2026 fee guides. Fees change, so confirm them before you commit.

OptionFee used in the calculatorThings to know
Apple App Store30% standard; 15% with the Small Business ProgramThe 15% rate is for developers with up to $1 million in prior-year proceeds, and you must enrol. Subscriptions drop to 15% after a subscriber’s first year of paid service whether or not you are enrolled.
Google Play (US, UK, EEA)10% service fee + 5% billing fee = 15%Since 30 June 2026, the service fee is 10% on auto-renewing subscriptions and on your first $1 million of yearly earnings. The 5% billing fee applies only if you use Google Play Billing. Other purchases above $1 million cost more. Other regions follow different schedules.
Stripe (your own checkout)2.9% + $0.30The usual US card rate. International cards commonly add about 1.5%. You are the seller, so you handle sales tax and VAT.
Merchant of record (Paddle, Lemon Squeezy)5% + $0.50The provider is the legal seller and handles sales tax and VAT for you. Some providers add surcharges for international sales, so check the current terms.

Store billing or your own checkout: what the fee table leaves out

A lower fee does not always mean more money. With Stripe you become responsible for collecting and paying sales tax and VAT in every place you sell, which is the work a merchant of record takes on for its extra percentage points. Stores also handle refunds, failed payments and receipts, and many customers trust the store’s checkout. On the other side, store billing is not always allowed to be replaced: whether an app may send users to a web checkout depends on each store’s rules in each country, and those rules have been changing. On Google Play, the 10% service fee still applies to web-link and alternative-billing sales in the regions above, so only the 5% billing fee goes away. Read the current policy for every store and country you sell in before you change how you take payments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the App Store Small Business Program automatic?

No. You apply for it in App Store Connect, and your proceeds in the prior calendar year must be $1 million or less. If you cross the threshold, the standard rate applies to later sales until you qualify again.

Which fee should I choose for a subscription app?

For Apple, use 15% if you are enrolled in the Small Business Program and 30% if you are not (or while a subscriber is in the first year). For Google Play in the US, UK and EEA using Google Play Billing, use 15%. If you are in a different region, pick Custom fee and enter the rate from the store’s current documentation.

Why is the price needed higher than my target take-home?

Because the fee comes out of the price. To keep $9 on a sale with a 15% fee, you must charge $9 ÷ 0.85, which is about $10.59. The fixed part of a fee, such as 30 cents, is added on top.

Does the calculator include taxes?

No. Enter your price before sales tax or VAT. Apple and Google collect tax from the customer in most places and pay you the net amount, while with your own checkout you are responsible for it.

Is my data stored?

No. The numbers stay in your browser and are not sent to any server.
